Fitosociologia is published by the Italian Society for Vegetation Science (SISV). The journal is the continuation of the “Notiziario della Società Italiana di Fitosociologia” (1964-1989). It is published twice a year and contains original articles in the field of phytosociology, proceedings of scientific meetings, book reviews as well as reports on social activities and everything that may be of interest to the members of the association. INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORSManuscripts must be sent in three copies to the Editor-in-chief. Submission implies that the paper has not been published or is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Each copy must include all the figures and tables. The originals of the figures and of the tables should be sent only after the manuscript has been accepted. Manuscripts will be examined by two independent referees before any decision is taken regarding acceptance and changes required. Papers should be clearly and concisely written. The languages accepted are English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Manuscripts must be typewritten, double-spaced throughout, on one side only of A4 paper with margins of at least 3 cm all around. Manuscripts must be arranged in the following order: title of the article, full name of the authors(s), complete addresses of the author(s) with e-mail address if available, abstract in English and in the language used in the text; key words (up to six in alphabetical order); text; acknowledgements; references in alphabetical order; tables; legends to figures; figures; name and address of the corresponding author, including telephone and fax numbers and e-mail address. The text should be subdivided into the following selection: introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion. The approximate desired position of all figures and tables should be indicated in the margins of the text. All the scientific names of plants and plant communities must be written in italics. Authors of taxa and syntaxa must be either cited when first mentioned in the text or all included in a single list or in the phytosociological table(s); a reference to a standard taxonomic work is also accepted for the scientific names of plants. Tables must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numbers; each table must be typewritten on a separate page. Figures should be on a separate page and numbered consecutively with Arabic numbers. Figure legends should be written all together on a separate sheet, in English and in the language used in the text. Tables and figures should bear the name of the author(s) in pencil. References: when quoting references in the text, the author’s name and year of effective publication must be given [e.g. Meriaux (1983) or (Meriaux, 1983)]. Different papers by the same author(s) published in the same year must be distinguished in the text and in the list of references by a letter (a, b…) after the year of publication. The symbol & is to be used between the names of two co-authors. In the text, et al. should be used in the case of more than two authors. Authors of unpublished data and personal communications should not be cited in the reference list, but only in the text and in brackets. Articles that have been accepted for publication can be mentioned as being “in press” (or “in stampa”, etc.) in the list of references. Titles of periodicals should be abbreviated. References must be listed according to the following examples:
The accepted manuscripts must be presented by the authors by saving the text and tables on a floppy disk using the programs Microsoft Word and Excel, together with one copy of the printed article. Label the disk with the first author’s name, title of the article, as well as all file names. Pack floppy diskes safely. Changes in the mauscript will not be admitted at this stage. Manuscripts will be considered for publication only if they are in accord with these instructions. The latest issues of the journal should be used as a guide to the formal layout. A compulsory contribution of ! 19,35 each page is required for all articles. The Editorial-office will send a P.D.F. copy of each article to the corresponding Author. All request for further information concerning Fitosociologia must be addressed to the Editor-in-chief. WEB: http//www.scienzadellavegetazione.it/ |
